Top 10 Nickelodeon shows that should be revived

In the 1990’s Nickelodeon dominated television programming for kids. They were known for their popular Saturday morning cartoons before launching the primetime block called SNICK that included their popular live action shows like All That and Keenan and Kel.

In recent years Nickelodeon's consistent dominance among kids programming has wavered. They have faced more competition than ever before and its quality has gone downhill. Nickelodeon’s fade from the spotlight has led to reports of a mashup movie combining all of their ‘90s cartoons, according to Vanity Fair.

Some of the old stars have moved on to other careers in show business while others have disappeared. Either way it is always fun to see a beloved actor from your childhood pop up in a cameo.

In today’s entertainment world where it seems like every other venture is a sequel or a reboot, why can’t there be room for some of our old Nickelodeon favorites? With that in mind we decided to take a look at the 10 Nickelodeon shows that should be revived.

Figure it Out

The game show where the panelists (often actors from Nickelodeon shows) got slimed was rebooted in 2012 and flopped. It was popular during its first run and deserves another chance to be a hit.

Rugrats

Most people will probably think this cartoon about talking babies should be lower on the list. It lost its luster with all of the spin-offs and movies. It needs to come back to its old form.

Hey Arnold

Like Rugrats this show needs to come back after an awful movie was the last fresh memory we have of the series.

The Amanda Show

For this to work, obviously Amanda Bynes would have to be brought back to Nickelodeon. Yes, Amanda Bynes used to be on Nickelodeon. It could be a nightmare of the Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management variety, but she has to turn it around sometime right?

All That

Nickelodeon’s Saturday Night Live produced multiple spin-offs, movies and productive careers for its former stars including Nick Cannon, Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, and Gabriel Ilglesias.

Kenan and Kel

This one would obviously be very difficult. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have had a well publicized falling out since the end of the show. Things may have taken a step in the right direction with Kel landing the lead in the new Nickelodeon sitcom Game Shakers set to premiere September 12th.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

When you were a kid some of these stories could be very scary. Looking back at them now, even if you are still scared you can appreciate the story telling even more.

Legends of the Hidden Temple

The set looked like something from Indiana Jones, which instantly drew you in. The game was always fun to watch and the host kept it interesting.

Pete and Pete

This one could be tricky. Obviously the original actors are too old now and the tone of the show wouldn’t work with adult main characters. They would have to revive it with new actors playing each Pete. It would be risky, but ultimately worth it.

Doug

The most underrated cartoon of all time. Creator Jim Jinkins based the show on experiences from his life. It’s a perfect narrative about a typical kid going through the trials and tribulations of school. Disney acquired the rights in 1996 but that doesn’t mean the show still can’t come back. If anything, that acquisition means the media titan should have an easier time doing it.
