Vanessa Williams and Miss America pageant officials disagreeing on her return as judge (Report)

Vanessa Williams will make her return back to Miss America after being shunned over three decades ago for a nude photo scandal. However, there’s reportedly been a lot of miscommunication about her return between her team and the executives behind the scenes of the event.

As we previously reported, Williams will act as head judge of the pageant, where she would appear at the beginning of the show and a Miss America official will apologize for dethroning her and award her a new crown.

Sources have told TMZ they’re at an impasse about exactly how it will go down, and the pressure is on since promo ads have already run advertising her triumphant return.

Officials reportedly want Williams to apologize first, then they would give her the new crown. But Williams’ team claims that’s not what they originally agreed to at all.

"We recognize that Vanessa’s return to Miss America on Sunday, September 13 is a special cultural and television moment,” Mike Mahan, President of dick clark productions, which produces the broadcast, said in a statement after the announcement. “We are both honored and excited that she will take center stage for the 95th Anniversary of the competition.”
