Beyonce starts Super Bowl media conference with National Anthem performance

Beyonce faced the media for the first time since her National Anthem performance at President Obama’s inauguration earlier this month. She admitted that she did sing to a recorded track and to prove that she could do it without any help, she sang the “Star-Spangled Banner” right away.

As she walked to the podium for her Super Bowl press conference, she asked the media to please rise, then belted out an amazing performance of the National Anthem. She was met with a round of applause. “Any questions?” she asked.

“I am a perfectionist ... I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration],” she said when asked about lip-syncing-gate, reports TMZ. “It was a live television show and a very important moment for me.”

She continued, “Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk … so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.”

But, she promised that she will be singing live for the crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and for the fans at home, according to USA Today. “I will absolutely be singing live,” she said.

“I'm nervous. When I was driving up, I got chills looking at the Superdome. There's so much history there,” she added.

Beyonce also wouldn’t confirm or deny if a Destiny’s Child reunion was scheduled for Sunday. “I can't give too much away but every little second matters...I have so many songs and trying to condense my career into seven minutes is not easy because all of my songs are like my children,” she explained.
