Caitlyn Jenner's 'I Am Cait' gets second season on E!

I Am Cait has been picked up for a second season, E! has officially announced Thursday in a release. The new season will begin airing next year.

It was widely assumed Jenner’s show would get picked up for a second season. I Am Cait premiered in July and ran for eight episodes this summer, documenting Jenner’s many firsts as a woman after she transitioned from Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn.

“Caitlyn’s story has ignited a global conversation on the transgender community on a scale that has never been seen before,” E!’s EVP of Programming and Development, Jeff Olde, said in a statement. “We are honored Caitlyn has chosen to continue to share her ongoing story with our viewers around the world.”

The docu-series premiered to 2.7 million viewers and although it did decline from there on out, it ended strongly with 1.3 million viewers.

Jenner added in a statement, “I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation.”

As we previously reported, Jenner just officially announced a speaking tour called Up Close and Personal, which will begin on Feb. 22.
