Martha Stewart on Blake Lively shutting down Preserve: 'Maybe you can't do everything'

Late last month, Blake Lively revealed she was shutting down her lifestyle website, Preserve, citing launching it too early as its problem for not succeeding.

She launched it in July 2014, and she was immediately met with criticism from Martha Stewart, who called it “stupid” because she was an actress.

“I mean, it’s stupid, she could be an actress! Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?” she said at the time, adding, “I want to be Blake Lively.”

Now Stewart is commenting on Preserve shutting down, suggesting Lively tried to wear too many hats.

While at New York’s 17th Annual Hudson River Park Gala, Stewart told Us Weekly, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I know she made a big effort. Sometimes shuttering is good. Listen, she's a movie actress. Why bother with commerce right now?”

She added, “She's at the top of her career... I'm totally supportive, but you know what? Maybe you can't do everything at the same time."

Last week, Lively acknowledged she had too much on her plate when she posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing three hats.

“One day I'll stop wearing so many hats ....but ...I'll probably be dead by then, so... I'm just doin' what mama taught me ;),” she wrote.
