The peacock’s series will follow the adventures of Bash Casey, the son of Ryan Phillippe’s Sebastian and Witherspoon’s Annette. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bash will find his father’s journal and learn of his legacy. He heads to Brighton Prep in San Francisco where he finds a world he’s not used to.

Variety reports that NBC put in a script commitment for Cruel Intentions and will pay a penalty if the project doesn’t move forward. The film’s writer/director Roger Kumble is writing the new series with Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross.

Cruel Intentions the series comes from Sony Television, Neal Moritz, Original Film’s Pavun Shetty and AMBI.

The original film was released by Sony and grossed $75 million worldwide in 1999. The cast also included Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.

This is just the latest movie-turned-TV series project in the works. Two debuted this fall to mixed results. Fox’s Minority Report will not get a full 13 episodes, but CBS’ Limitless is doing well. CBS’ Rush Hour and ABC’s Uncle Buck are both coming this midseason.
