'The Raid' remake loses Taylor Kitsch, director and studio (Report)

The American remake of the 2011 Indonesian action flick The Raid looks to be in serious trouble.

According to The Tracking Board, The Raid remake has just lost its star, director and studio all in one swoop. The upcoming movie was set to star Taylor Kitsch, was to be directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3) and produced by Screen Gems, but now Kitsch, Hughes and Screen Gems have all dropped out.

That's certainly some bad news, although the other studio set to produce, XYZ Films, is reportedly still on board.

This isn't the first time the remake has ran into some trouble, as it was also delayed earlier this year. At the time, actor Frank Grillo said the delay was due to casting issues.

We don't yet have any idea why Kitsch and Hughes would both walk away from the project, but this leaves the future of The Raid up in the air. XYZ films will now have to find a new distributor, new director, and a new star, which will be no easy task. If you're a hardcore Raid fan, it's probably best not to get your hopes up about seeing this new version anytime soon.
