Browns Johnny Manziel to start against Bengals for injured Josh McCown

Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Johnny Manziel has gotten the nod to start in place of the injured Josh McCown against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night.

The team announced Wednesday morning that Johnny Football would be starting since McCown is still dealing with a rib injury.

"On the short week, we realized that Josh just wasn't going to be able to get to the point where he could go," Browns coach Mike Pettine said in a statement. "Johnny has worked hard to prepare himself. He is excited about his opportunity and we are all looking forward to the challenge."

This will be the fourth start of Manziel’s career. He has a 1-2 record, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com. The win came this season against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 when McCown was out with a concussion.

Manziel is more known for his antics off the field than his play on the field.

As we reported, the latest incident came last month when the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner was pulled over for speeding and allegedly had a domestic situation with his girlfriend. She said he hit her and he admitted to drinking that day, but no charges were ever filed. His admission came after he completed a stint in rehab.
