Golden State Warriors match best ever start in NBA history

The Golden State Warriors just keep on rolling.

The defending NBA champions knocked off Denver 118-105 on Sunday evening, improving to 15-0 on the season. It's their 15th straight victory, as they remain undefeated this season to match the best start in NBA history.

The Warriors matched the start of the 1948-1949 Washington Capitols and 1993-1994 Houston Rockets. They will have a chance to make the record solely theirs on Tuesday night, when they face the struggling Los Angeles Lakers at home in Oracle Arena. Regardless of whom they play, the Warriors are certainly not lacking in confidence.

“It's kind of a quiet confidence that we don't feel like we're going to lose anytime soon,” Stephen Curry said, notes the Associated Press. “The way we're playing ... we can get even better.”

Curry also acknowledged the team’s scintillating start to begin the season.

“It's a huge accomplishment,” Curry said. “Obviously, coming off a championship and taking care of business 15 straight times to start the season - couldn't ask for a better start.”

Although the Warriors are firing on all cylinders, not everyone is on the Dubs bandwagon. Mychal Thompson, the former NBA player and also father of shooting guard Klay Thompson, told ESPN radio that he thinks the Lakers will be the team to give the Warriors their first loss.

“They’ll look at the Lakers record and go ‘Oh, they’re a lottery team. We’re not going to take them that seriously.’ I think the Lakers will go out there with a sneak attack and surprise and shock the world,” the elder Thompson said, reports Sporting News.

“I’m predicting the Laker victory in Golden State to stop their 15-game winning streak and prevent them from breaking the record,” Thompson added.

It remains to be seen if the Lakers, who are a miserable 2-11 this season, are up to the task of dismantling the Warriors’ win streak.
