Hayden Panettiere’s 'Nashville' costar gives update on her postpartum depression

Hayden Panettiere is letting her Nashville costars know that she is doing well.

At the Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 4, Panettiere’s costar Riley Smith told US Weekly that the actress was doing well after checking into rehab for her postpartum depression.

"Good," Smith said. "I texted her, and wished her well. She texted me right back and said, 'I'm awesome, thanks.' So hopefully she will be back on the set soon."

Panettiere checked into rehab in October after giving birth to her daughter Kaya with fiancé Wladimir Klitschko in December.

“[Hayden] is voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression. She asks that the media respect her privacy during this time,” her rep said at the time.

Panettiere opened up about postpartum depression on Live with Kelly and Michael earlier this year. Her Nashville character Juliette Barnes is also battling postpartum depression on the ABC show.

“It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal,” she said.

Panettiere went on to explain that there are a lot of misunderstandings associated with postpartum depression.
