Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette leaves hospital after surgery, stops to feed homeless

After Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette suffered a nasty neck injury on the field, he left the hospital and did a good deed for the less fortunate in one Dallas community.

TMZ reported that Lockette underwent successful surgery and as he and his family left the hospital on Nov. 5, the wideout saw and decided to feed a group of homeless men.

Lockette’s dad, Earl, told the website that after spotting the men the athlete told his driver to go to McDonald’s and order 100 cheeseburgers.

"He had a neck brace on while he was passing out the burgers," the elder Lockette said. "So some people were like, 'What happened to you?' But Ricardo didn't try and bring attention to who he was. Some people knew who he was. But this was more about Ricardo seeing people who were in worse shape than him, and wanting to help them however he could.

“It was a beautiful thing. Through helping other people, he helped heal himself. It was therapeutic for everyone."

Lockette sustained the injury in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. The surgery was to stabilize ligament damage in his neck. Upon his release, he tweeted to his fans that he was on the road to recovery and a spokesman for the team said that his neurological signs are all positive.
