Since every blockbuster needs countless posters to go with it, there was no way the official poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens that was revealed last month would be the only one for the film. Today, Disney and Lucasfilm unveiled five more posters, all focusing on the characters.
The posters, revealed at StarWars.com and on Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega’s social media accounts, look similar to other character posters for The Hunger Games and other blockbusters.
Boyega’s Finn character is shown holding his lightsaber, while Ridley’s Rey holds her staff. Princess Leia (Fisher) looks seriously through holograms. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) is seen with his familiar blaster. Lastly, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) has his red lightsaber.
Again, there’s no Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Also, Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) doesn’t get a poster, which feels strange since he is one of the new main characters. Poe also got even more action in the new trailer, although we still haven’t seen Luke.
Poe was also barely noticeable on the official theatrical poster. Luke wasn’t there either.
The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18 and tickets are now on sale.
