Tracy Morgan in talks to join Richard Pryor biopic as Redd Foxx

Comedian Tracy Morgan is reportedly in talks to play comedian Redd Foxx in the Richard Pryor biopic that will star Mike Epps and Kate Hudson.

Morgan’s possible involvement in the project was first reported by TheWrap. The Weinstein Company, which is backing the film, didn’t confirm it.

The film will be directed by Lee Daniels (The Butler, Empire) and will feature Epps as Pryor and Hudson as his wife, Jennifer. Eddie Murphy is set to play Pryor’s father, with Taraji P. Henson as his mother. Oprah Winfrey will play Pryor’s grandmother, who raised the legendary comedian.

Foxx helped encourage Pryor and starred in the ‘70s sitcom Sanford and Son. He also appeared in Harlem Nights with Murphy and Pryor. He died in 1991 at age 68.

Morgan has been on the comeback trail after being involved in a deadly car accident last year. In addition to hosting Saturday Night Live last month and planning a tour, the former 30 Rock star has also nabbed a role in the Ice Cube comedy Fist Fight.
