Bill Cosby files countersuit for defamation against seven of his sexual assault accusers

Bill Cosby has taken the first steps to fight back against his accusers, launching a countersuit against seven women on Monday.

Cosby’s attorney, Monique Pressley, has filed paperwork on the disgraced Cosby Show star’s behalf in Massachusetts, suing Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie for defamation.

These women are only a handful of the over 50 women who have come forward to accuse Cosby of varying degrees of sexual misconduct, including behind drugged and raped. However, their joint lawsuit is the largest of the bunch so far, USA Today reports. He previously filed a motion to dismiss the case, which a judge would not agree to.

"Mr. Cosby states plainly that he neither drugged no sexually assaulted the defendants and that each defendant has maliciously and knowingly published multiple false statements and accusations from Fall 2014 through the current day in an effort to cause damage to Mr. Cosby's reputation and to extract financial gains," the statement reads.

The attorney who represents the seven women, Joseph Cammarata, called the move a “page out of a defense lawyer’s playbook.” He added, “It’s curious to me how there can be scores of other ladies who have come out, and yet Mr. Cosby has singled out seven of them to bring a claim against.”

Cosby is also being sued by Janice Dickinson. He continues to deny any wrongdoing although more women seem to be coming forward with allegations every few weeks.
