List of theaters showing 'The Hateful Eight' in 70mm revealed, nationwide release moved again

If you've been dying to see Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight in 70mm and want to know where it will be playing, The Weinstein Co. has finally released a list of theaters.

According to VarietyThe Hateful Eight will play in 70mm in 100 theaters starting Dec. 25th, mainly in major markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. To find out if it's playing anywhere near you, check out the movie's official website.

This roadshow edition of the movie, which runs for two weeks, will have a runtime of over three hours including a five-minute overture and an intermission. This is the widest 70mm release of a film in over 20 years. It will be slightly longer than the digital version that will open nationwide in most multiplexes.

This digital version was originally scheduled to be released on Jan. 8, but a few days ago it was moved up to January 1. Now The Weinstein Co. is changing the release date again, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will now expand nationwide on Dec. 31. Could all these last minute changes point to the studio's lack of confidence in the 70mm release? As reported by HitFix, the movie was screened for press a few weeks ago, and projecting the movie was such a hassle that the theater was forced to switch to the digital version halfway through.
