Matt Damon requires some really expensive rescuing in his movies

Matt Damon needs a lot of rescuing in his movies and all those rescue missions have to come with a cost. Someone has figured out exactly how much all that rescuing would cost.

Quora user Kynan Eng calculated the costs of these rescue missions, featured in films like Saving Private Ryan, Green Zone and Courage Under Fire. In recent years, Damon’s characters have gotten in extraterrestrial danger, so the cost of rescues in Elysium, Interstellar and The Martian are staggering.

Eng found that the total frictional cost of saving Damon’s characters in Courage Under Fire, Saving Private Ryan, Titan A.E., Syriana, Green Zone Elysium Interstellar and The Martian was $900 billion.

Damon’s movies have made a combined $2.7 billion, which makes you wonder if saving him is still worth it. At least these movies only cost a combined $729 million to actually make.

Eng told BuzzFeed that he thinks the investment in what Damon’s characters are doing is worth the cost.

“I have to be careful what I say here,” Eng said when asked if Damon was worth saving. “Let’s say, I think that many of the things that the character is doing are fascinating endeavors which are worth the long-term investment. It’s not about Matt Damon personally.”
