Parents are taking love for Instagram to a new level by naming their kids after filters

BabyCenter's 2015 report on the most popular baby names of the year shows just how much people are influenced by social media. For the first time ever, technology has inspired parents’ choices for baby names.

In particular, new parents were inspired by Instagram filters. Filter names like Ludwig, Lux and Juno saw big increases this year.

Lux increased by the most with 75 percent since last year, followed by Ludwig with a 42 percent increase. There was also Juno, up 30 percent and Valencia up 26 percent, BabyCenter.com reports.

BabyCenter's global editor in chief, Linda Murray, said in a statement, “This is the first time we’ve seen technology break through as a source of name inspiration. Photo-sharing is a daily and emotional part of Millennials’ lives, and those two ingredients can trigger love for a name.”

The most popular names of 2015, however, was Sophia for a girl (the sixth year in a row) and Jackson for a boy (for the third consecutive year).

Another trend was naming children after characters from Fox's Empire.
