Phoenix Suns' Eric Bledsoe out for rest of season after surgery

Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe will be out for the rest of the season after having surgery on Tuesday.

Bledsoe tore the meniscus in his left knee during Saturday's games against the Philadelphia 76ers. He had surgery to repair it. He was expected to miss about six weeks but the Suns lengthened the timetable for his return after the surgery was complete, according to ESPN. The Suns said that Bledsoe is expected to be ready for training camp next fall.

This isn't the first time that Bledsoe has had problems with his knees. He had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee in 2011. Last year he had the meniscus in his right knee removed.

Bledsoe has been one of the bright spots for the Suns this season. He averaged 20.4 points, 6.1 assists, and four rebounds, and had a player efficiency rating of 21.01, according to USA Today. Brandon Knight will take on the role of leading the Suns offense with Bledsoe out.

The Suns are 12-21 and are in 12th place in the Western Conference.
