Poison's drummer, Rikki Rockett, reveals oral cancer diagnosis

Poison drummer, Rikki Rockett, has revealed on SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk Live on Monday that he has oral cancer.

Rockett told Trunk he received the diagnosis over the summer, saying his doctor found a tumor on his tongue.

“[In] June, I kind of got sick,” he told Rockett, Blabbermouth reports. “I had this horrible cold, sore-throat thing, and they were scoping me and they were doing biopsies, and nothing was coming up.” After a doctor at USC did a biopsy, they found the tumor.

The musician went on to say the cancer is similar to Michael Douglas’, explaining it usually spreads.

“Normally, it does spread to the lymph nodes; that's typical,” he said. “That's how you find out you have it ninety percent of the time."

Rockett revealed his aggressive strategy to rid himself of cancer, saying he’s already been through nine rounds of chemo and seven weeks of radiation. He also said his mother-in-law brought him every day, despite a recent split from his wife.

A PET scan will reveal if treatment has cured him in February.
