Quentin Tarantino hopes to adapt 'The Hateful Eight' into a stage play

A lot of Quentin Tarantino movies really feel like plays and the director will be fully embracing that with his latest work, The Hateful Eight.

In a new roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked what his next project will be, Tarantino said he's thinking of turning his latest movie into a stage production.

"I've got to see how I feel when Hateful Eight is over, if I still have the same juice for it, but the next thing I'd like to do is a theatrical adaptation of Hateful Eight, because I like the idea of other actors having a chance to play my characters," Tarantino said.

Last year, Tarantino actually directed a live reading of the Hateful Eight script, an experience he found extremely rewarding. The movie follows a small group of characters and takes place mainly in one location, so it sounds like out of all of Tarantino films, this is the one that would work best on stage.

Tarantino has previously expressed a desire to write novels and plays after he retires and in fact he plans to quit making movies after his 10th film. That means we only have two more Tarantino films to go, but hopefully his work will live on long after that in other mediums.

The Hateful Eight hits theaters on Dec. 25.
