'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' does not have post credits scene, J.J. Abrams confirms

As Disney prepares to set up a new series of Star Wars movies, a lot of fans have been wondering if they'll follow in Marvel's footsteps by including post-credits sequences. Now, director J.J. Abrams has officially given us our answer.

In a recent press conference for the new Star Wars movie, Abrams was asked if there is anything after the credits in The Force Awakens and for once he gave a totally unambiguous answer: “No, there’s not.”

That's probably a good thing overall, as each of the Star Wars movies so far have felt pretty conclusive. Even The Empire Strikes Back, which ends with many unresolved storylines, still feels like a complete film on its own. Throwing in a teaser at the end might make The Force Awakens feel like a set up for other movies rather than a standalone piece of entertainment.

There wasn't a whole lot else revealed at the press conference, as you would expect from an event for a movie that has been kept such a secret, but one other detail was that The Force Awakens will not include Jar Jar Binks in any way. That will be a relief to most fans, although perhaps not those who had invested in the theory that Jar Jar is a secret Sith Lord. The film will also not feature any Ewoks.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18.
