Sylvester Stallone not involved in 'Rambo: New Blood'

Sylvester Stallone will not be a part of FOX's series Rambo: New Blood, despite expectations that he would reprise his famous role.

When news started circulating about the series, Stallone was listed as an executive producer. But Stallone, himself, along with his reps have denied these reports.

“Contrary to reports, Sylvester Stallone has opted not to participate in the planned Rambo television series in any way at all," a spokesperson for Stallone stated, according to Deadline.

The actor was also quoted saying, "I wish the others well with the project.”

Rambo: New Blood was originally announced in 2013 and the production companies, Entertainment One and Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films, spoke about their negotiations with Stallone on potentially having the actor work on the series on a creative level as well as reprising his role as Rambo.

Now that they don't have Stallone on board, it is unknown how far the series will go. According to Screen Rant, FOX's developmental deal was apparently negotiated under the pretense that the actor would be involved in some capacity.

Although fans won't see him involved with a Rambo television series, Stallone is still working as an executive producer on FOX's series based on The Expendables. Avi Lerner, who previously produced the action film franchise, is working with Stallone while NCIS: LA‘s Shane Brennan will act as showrunner.

The Expendables event series is currently in development.
