Two dead in helicopter flying to Argentina for MTV's latest 'The Challenge' show

Two people are dead after a helicopter on the way to Argentina to film MTV’s The Challenge crashed over the reservoir at Potrerillos de Mendoza, northwest of Buenos Aires.

Both the pilot and the technician, whose names have not been released, died in the crash. MTV has confirmed they were on their way to a filming location. Gianni Vernier, security minister for Mendoza province, told Télam the wreckage was about 200 feet below the surface.

“The thoughts and prayers of all at MTV and Bunim/Murray are with those who lost their lives in this tragedy and their families during this difficult time," MTV said in a statement to People after Saturday’s accident.

No cast or crew members of the show, The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines, were among those on the Bell 206 helicopter, which was subcontracted by the network and Bunim/Murray Productions.

According to The AP, the deadly crash is under investigation.
