‘Aladdin’ Broadway musical to start national tour in Chicago next year

Aladdin is heading to a whole new world... that is, if you consider Chicago a whole new world.

Disney Theatrical Group announced today that the Aladdin Broadway musical will begin its national tour at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre on April 11, 2017 for a 12-week engagement. The production will close on July 2, 2017.

Additional dates and tour stops will be announced later.

Aladdin is based on the beloved 1992 Disney animated film and features music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman. Sir Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin contributed new lyrics and Beguelin wrote the book. Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed. The show was nominated for five Tonys and won Actor (Featured Role - Musical) for James Monroe Iglehart.

This is the second big national Broadway tour announced today. Hamilton will also hit the road in 2017, but that is starting in California.
