Amy Winehouse's mother speculates she went undiagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome

Amy Winehouse’s mother, Janis Winehouse-Collins, is opening up about her speculation the late singer, who died in 2011 of alcohol poisoning, could’ve went undiagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome.

In an interview with People, Winehouse-Collins said it’s pure speculation at this point and it was never confirmed by a doctor.

“She could well have been almost Tourette's, where she would just shout things out," she said. "We just do not know."

Winehouse-Collins relived her happy memories with her daughter in her memoir Loving Amy: A Mother's Story.

Before her life took a turn and she was thrust into the spotlight, Winehouse-Collins said her daughter was a “gifted” child before she got into drugs and alcohol.

"I think that she was a special-needs kid in that she was so intelligent,” she said. “She was so gifted, living in a world where she just wasn't average, where she didn't quite fit in. But it was a great life lived."

Winehouse only released two albums before her untimely death at the age of 27.
