Harrison Ford to introduce ‘Star Wars’ rides during ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ special

Harrison Ford isn’t quite done with Star Wars yet. The beloved actor has been recruited to star in a Wonderful World of Disney special on ABC to help introduce a preview of the new Star Wars rides coming to Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

Ford will guide audiences through a look at the massive Star Wars Land sections coming to both Anaheim and Orlando. Both sections will be 14 acres, as Disney previously announced last fall. Several rides in Disneyland have already been closed to make way for the project. In Orlando, the changes will be based at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Ford played Han Solo in the original Star Wars trilogy and reprised the role in The Force Awakens.

The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 will air on ABC Sunday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. The show will also include a performance of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by The Los Angeles Philharmonic. Elton John, Josh Gad and Witney Carson are also participating.

While the special will celebrate Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, that was actually last year. Walt Disney opened the gates of Disneyland on July 17, 1955.
