Leonardo DiCaprio says 'The Revenant' bear scene will go down in film history

Leonardo DiCaprio is opening up about one of the hardest to film scenes in his career: the already infamous bear attack sequence from The Revenant.

In a discussion following his win for best actor at the Golden Globes last night, DiCaprio talked about making the scene, which he believes will go down in the history of cinema.

"It was an amazing, visceral, tactile sort of sequence that makes people really feel like they're there, and yes it was incredibly difficult to do, but we rehearsed for weeks beforehand for just that sequence," DiCaprio said.

The actor went on to explain that he didn't want to go into too much detail about how they accomplished the set piece, but he did reveal that director Alejandro Iñárritu watched over 100 bear attacks in order to make The Revenant's as accurate as possible.

And although it's a very serious moment in the movie, DiCaprio isn't above having some fun laughing about it, as he said he was a big fan of Jonah Hill's gag at the Golden Globes in which he presented in character as the bear.

"That was amazing that Jonah did that," DiCaprio said.

The Revenant is now playing in theaters everywhere.
