Netflix's 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' casts Violet and Klaus

Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events has just found its two leads.

According to Deadline, Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes have been cast as Violet and Klaus respectively. Weissman is known for her role on CBS' Supergirl, where she played young Kara in flashback scenes. She made her debut as a young version of April O'Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

For Hynes, on the other hand, this will be his first role to date.

This news comes a few weeks after Netflix put out a casting call asking young actors everywhere to audition for the two characters, as we previously reported. Since then, the show has also cast Count Olaf: Neil Patrick Harris. That role was played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 movie.

A Series of Unfortunate Events is an adaptation of the popular children's book series written by Daniel Handler. The 13-part series tells the story of three children who lose their parents in a fire and are sent to live with their mysterious relative, Count Olaf. Production on the show is expected to begin this March in Vancouver.
