Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor to star in new time-travel thriller from 'Orphan Black' writer

Alums of The Flash and Jessica Jones are joining forces with a science-fiction thriller on Netflix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor have signed on for ARQ, a new time-travel film written and directed by Tony Elliott (Orphan Black). Set in a post-apocalyptic future where the world has run out of oil, ARQ follows an engineer's attempts to protect a technology that could provide unlimited energy, but that same technology has created a time loop in which the engineer and his friends must relive the same day over and over.

Robbie Amell is known for his role as Ronnie Raymond on The Flash, CW's superhero series that shares a universe with Arrow. He also played the lead character on The Tomorrow People, which The CW cancelled after one season. Rachael Taylor is no stranger to superhero shows herself, as she starred as Trish on Jessica Jones. ARQ will be another collaboration between Taylor and Netflix, and she is also expected to appear in Jessica Jones' recently announced second season.

So far, Netflix has produced two original films: Beasts of No Nation and The Ridiculous 6. However, they have plenty more in store in the coming months, including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, Pee-wee's Big Holiday, Girlfriend's Day and at least nine more movies. Three of those will come from Adam Sandler.

ARQ will begin production in Toronto this winter.
