'Scream Queens' renewed for season 2, setting moves to hospital

Like Ryan Murphy's other series American Horror Story, Scream Queens will return in a brand a new setting later this year.

Fox has renewed the horror anthology series for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While season 1 took place on a college campus, season 2 will move to a hospital setting. Here, the show will explore some fascinating and bizarre medical cases, Fox said at the Television Critics Associations press tour.

In terms of casting, some actors from the first season are expected to return, although we don't know if they will be playing their same characters. Creator Ryan Murphy previously floated the idea of having a few of season 1's survivors come back, but it's unclear if this is still the plan. If not, he would probably go for an American Horror Story strategy of having actors play multiple different roles.

Scream Queens had a rather successful first season on FOX, mainly thanks to VOD viewership and social media buzz. If the second season does follow a new cast and setting, that would make this Murphy's third anthology show on television along with American Horror Story and American Crime Story.
