Showtime renews 'Billions' for a second season

This news shouldn't come as a surprise, as Billions has been doing incredibly well for the network so far. In fact, the pilot episode brought in 2.99 million viewers, earning it the title of Showtime's biggest series premiere of all time, according to TV By the Numbers. Those numbers put it ahead of Ray Donovan's 2013 premiere, which attracted 2.91 million viewers.

Most of Showtime's subscribers apparently liked what they saw, as Billions rose from a 0.2 to a 0.3 demo rating between the first and second episode, as reported by TV Line.

Billions tells the story of the battle between a United States attorney, played by Paul Giamatti, and a hedge fund king, played by Damian Lewis. It marks a return to Showtime for Lewis, who previously starred on Homeland for four seasons. The show is created and executive-produced by Brian Koppelman (Ocean's Thirteen, The Lucky One). It airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
