Trailer Park: ‘Ride Along 2,’ ‘Norm of the North’ are driven to make it to the top of the box office

The law plays a main role in the films debuting in theaters this weekend. While some try to uphold it, others are looking for ways around it. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube return to their roles as cops in the sequel to their 2014 hit comedy.

James and Ben are joining forces once again to fight crime in Ride Along 2. This time around, they’re headed to Miami to apprehend a drug dealer. They must put a stop to him quickly because Ben’s marriage to James’ sister is just days away. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube star in the action comedy alongside Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, Olivia Munn, Tika Sumpter and Sherri Shepherd. The PG-13 films plays for one hour and forty-one minutes.

Humans threaten the existence of polar animals in Norm of the North. When a condo developer plans to build on the arctic land, a native polar bear named Norm and his three lemming friends head to the Big Apple to put a stop to it. The PG animated adventure features the voices of Rob Schneider, Heather Graham, Ken Jeong, Gabriel Iglesias and Bill Nighy. The family film plays for one hour and twenty-six minutes.

Set in Libya on September 11, 2012, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, recounts the true story of six highly skilled former military operatives set out to protect the CIA during a terrorist bombing. The group goes to great lengths to safeguard the Americans and keep the attackers at bay. The two hour and twenty-four minute drama is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s book. John Krasinski stars in the Michael Bay-directed film. It’s rated R for violence and language.

The legendary characters Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are adults in Band of Robbers. After Huck is released from jail, he decides that he wants to stop his criminal ways and live his life on the up and up, but his old buddy Tom has other ideas. He convinces Huck to join him on a treasure hunt. The unrated adventure comedy runs for one hour and thirty-five minutes. It’s available in limited theaters.

A man financially supports his late friend’s daughter and her family in The Benefactor. The young family accepts his donations, but isn’t quite sure who he really is and from where he gets his money. Richard Gere, Dakota Fanning, Theo James, Cheryl Hines and Dylan Baker star in the limited released drama. The unrated film runs for one hour and thirty-two minutes.

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube teamed up once again for this week’s comedy. Next week’s Dirty Grandpa features the unlikely comedy duo of Robert DeNiro and Zac Efron. January 22 is also the release date for the thriller The Fifth Wave.
