Dr. Dre to star in Apple’s first scripted television series

Apple is reportedly planning on making its first scripted series and it will star Dr. Dre.

Dre is starring in and executive producing a six-episode series called Vital Signs, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series is being financed by Apple, although it’s not clear how the tech giant plans on distributing it. Apple could make episodes available on iTunes or make it exclusive to Apple TV users.

The series is described as semi-autobiographical, with each episode focusing on a specific emotion. Sam Rockwell and Murder in the First’s Mo McRae are said to be co-stars. And while each episode will only be a half-hour, Vital Signs isn’t a comedy. It’s a dark drama filled with sex, violence and even an orgy scene.

Vital Signs will be directed by music video director Paul Hunter and produced through his Eye Candy banner. Robert Munic (Empire) wrote every episode.

Dre co-founded Beats, which is now owned by Apple. In 2015, he released the album Compton, which was inspired by the film Straight Outta Compton.
