Jennifer Garner explains why it's important for her to take her kids to church every Sunday

Jennifer Garner is crediting her new film Miracles From Heaven to bringing her back to her roots. Since filming her new movie, Garner said she has started the tradition of taking her three children with ex Ben Affleck to church every Sunday.

During an appearance on Good Morning Texas, Garner said she never “lost” who she was when she moved to Los Angeles, but she did stop one major tradition in her life.

“I grew up going to church every Sunday of my life, and when I did move to L.A., it wasn't something that was just part of the culture there in the same way, at least in my life,” she said.

When talking to her kids about the film, which is based on Christy Beam’s memoir about her daughter being cured of a rare disease after claiming to meet Jesus after a freak accident, it put her priorities about religion in perspective again.

"There was something about doing this film and talking to my kids about it and realizing that they were looking for the structure of church every Sunday," Garner explained. "So it was a great gift of this film that it took us back to finding our local Methodist church and going every Sunday. It's really sweet."
