‘Justice League’ filming date set for just weeks after ‘Batman v Superman’ opens

Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill will have very little time for a break after promoting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice because the first Justice League movie starts shooting just weeks after that film hits theaters.

Director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Justice League - Part 1 will begin filming on April 11. That’s barely over two weeks after Batman v Superman opens on March 25.

“It was a little bit of an ‘about time’ moment, and I don’t blame [the studio] for feeling that way, because it’s a long time coming,” Snyder told EW. “But I do feel like it’s a little bit of a creative hurdle. It seems like an easy thing to do at first glance, the idea that, ‘Oh, we just get the rest of the superheroes in there.’ But you have to [establish] a world where they can exist.”

In addition to Cavill as Superman, Affleck as Batman and Gadot as Wonder Woman, BvS will also feature the debuts of Era Miller as the Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. That all sets the groundwork for the first Justice League movie, which is set to open on Nov. 17, 2017.

Prior to Justice League, Warner Bros. also has Suicide Squad (Aug. 5) and Wonder Woman (June 23, 2017) scheduled for release. Solo movies for Aquaman and The Flash will be out in 2018 and JL - Part 2 is set up for 2019.
