Ronda Rousey says she had suicidal thoughts after loss to Holly Holm (Video)

After her shocking loss to Holly Holm in November, Ronda Rousey said in an emotional interview this week that she had suicidal thoughts. It was Rousey’s first first loss and completely unexpected to her fans and herself.

Rousey was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to talk about her appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s 2016 Swimsuit Edition. But it was her first talk show appearance since that stunning loss, so DeGeneres had to ask about it.

When DeGeneres asked Rousey if she began thinking that she might never fight again because of the injuries, Rousey got teary-eyed as she talked about her immediate reaction.

“I was sitting in the corner and I was like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?’ I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself in that exact second,” Rousey said. “I’m like, ‘I’m nothing,’ I’m like what do I do anymore? And no one gives a s**t about me anymore without this.”

At that point, she saw her boyfriend, UFC fighter Travis Browne and decided that she needed to be around, nores Fox Sports.

“To be honest, I looked up and I saw my man Travis was standing there and I looked up at him and I was like I need to have his babies, I need to stay alive. Really that was it,” she said. “I think I've only told him that but that's what I was thinking. I was meant to have him when I was at my lowest. I don't know if I would have made it without him.”

Rousey, who has started acting in films, said that she still plans on getting back into the octagon to fight, even if she will no longer be undefeated.

“I really do believe I'm still undefeated because being defeated is a choice,” Rousey said. “Everybody has losses in their life but I choose to always be undefeated.”

Rousey is currently filming the remake of Roundhouse and starred in Furious 7 last year.
