Ravens sign Joe Flacco for three more years

Despite a disappointing, injury-shortened 2015, the Baltimore Ravens have signed quarterback Joe Flacco for three more years.

The team announced the deal today. It comes as Flacco’s salary cap hit was set to jump to $28.55 million for the 2016 season. According to CBS News, the Ravens will save $6 million in cap space thanks to the deal. The Ravens will also save $13 million over the next two seasons.

Flacco also got a $40 million signing bonus, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Flacco, 31, has been with the Ravens since 2008 and was named Super Bowl MVP after leading the team to a win in Super Bowl XLVII. He signed a six-year, $120.6 million deal with the Ravens in 2013.

While Flacco does have 85 career wins in just eight seasons and 10 playoff wins, he had a rough 2015. He tore his ACL and MCL in Week 11, which forced him to miss the first games of his career. He went 3-7 during the first 10 games, with 14 touchdowns, 12 interceptions. In his career, Flacco has 162 touchdowns, 102 interceptions and has passed for 28,322 yards.

Overall, the Ravens finished 2015 with a 5-11 record.
