Rolling Stones schedule free concert in Cuba

While it usually costs hundreds of dollars to get a good seat at The Rolling Stones’ concerts, fans at the group’s first concert in Cuba won't have to worry. The show will be free.

The legendary rock group announced on their site today that they will perform at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana in Havana on March 25. It will be the first time a British rock group has performed an open-air show in the country.

“We have performed in many special places during our long career but this show in Havana is going to be a landmark event for us, and, we hope, for all our friends in Cuba too,” the group said in a statement.

The Stones show will take place just after President Barack Obama’s historic trip to Cuba. It will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has visited the country since 1928.

The Stones will also be helping an initiative to get more musical equipment and instruments to Cuban musicians. Donors include famous brands like The Gibson Foundation, Zildjian, Gretsch and BOSS. The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation is also a donor.

The show will follow their Latin American tour, which wraps up in Mexico City on March 17.
