Johnny Manziel avoids questions about hitting women, flips off camera in court (Video)

Former quarterback Johnny Manziel appeared in front of a judge on Thursday regarding a misdemeanor domestic violence charge stemming from a complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

ESPN noted that Manziel was released from the Highland Park jail in Texas on $1,500 bond and was ordered by Judge Roberto Canas not to have any contact with his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley. He also signed documentation stating that he does not have any firearms in his possession.

Manziel’s hearing only lasted a few minutes but, of course, there was some drama. While entering court he gave no response when media members asked him if he had thought it was all right to hit women. Video inside the Dallas courtroom, however, captured what may have been his response to the media when he appeared to be flipping off the camera in what many believe was an intentional gesture.

Manziel is accused of striking Crowley several times and in one instance hitting her so hard that she temporarily lost her hearing.

The former Heisman Trophy winner faces up to a year in prison and a $4,000 fine if convicted. His attorney has said that his client plans on entering a not guilty plea.
