First day of 'Fast 8' filming (VIDEO)

A video from the first day of filming on the set of Fast 8 has been released by Universal with stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and more.

Uploaded to the Fast and Furious YouTube channel, the video has a brief look at series regulars Diesel, Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Johnson, as well as Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and Nathalie Emmanuel returning from Furious 7. There's also a brief glimpse at newcomer Scott Eastwood (Fury, Gran Torino, Suicide Squad).

The first pic of Charlize Theron's villain was revealed last week. Lucas Black (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Furious 7) also stars in the eighth installment in Universal's street-racing franchise that began in 2001 with Rob Cohen's The Fast and the Furious starring Diesel and Paul Walker. That film brought in over $207.2 million worldwide at the box office back in the day while the last installment, Furious 7, brought in over $1.5 billion at the box office last year, the highest-grossing of the franchise by almost double the previous number one.

F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job) directs a script from Chris Morgan (Fast and Furious 3-7, Wanted). Fast 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
