Kim Kardashian could go to jail for leaking Kanye and Taylor Swift conversation

The Kanye West/Taylor Swift saga that seems like it will never be over could actually end with some major legal ramifications for Kim Kardashian West.

An attorney tells People that Mrs. West could be legally charged and face jail time for sharing on social media the recorded phone call between Swift and her husband.

As we reported, Kardashian West released the audio via Snapchat on Sunday and received a response from Swift who explained that the recording didn’t tell the whole story. The “Blank Space” singer insisted again that she never knew Kayne was going to call her a “b**ch” in hia "Famous" lyrics.

Gregory G. Brown, Esq. family and trial law firm Brown & Charbonneau, said that even if Kardashian did not record the conversation she can still be held legally responsible for leaking it.

“It could be argued that she ‘aided and abetted’ or ‘advised and encouraged’ the crime,” Brown says. “If so, she can be treated as a principle in the case.”

Furthermore, California is a “two-party consent” state and West did not tell Swift at the beginning of the call that it was being recorded. Because of this Brown noted that what West did was “definitely illegal.”

The penalty for the actions of Kim and Kanye is fines and up to a year in prison.

If you can’t imagine charges being filed or either of them actually facing consequences over this crime, consider that a source has revealed that the couple has already consulted lawyers about this matter.

“They’re not necessarily expecting to be sued but are aware it’s a possibility,” the Kardashian insider said.
