Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling and more join the female cast of 'Ocean's 8'

The new Ocean's 8 movie appears to be taking the girl power cue from Ghostbusters.

Deadline.com is reporting that the spinoff of the Ocean's 11 series has added Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and rapper Awkwafina to the caper picture.

The arrival of these ladies to Ocean's 8 now boost the movie's star power to another stratosphere as they reportedly join Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett.

Not too shabby being that the previous Ocean's franchise featured Hollywood heavyweights such as George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, who according to the report could make possible cameos in the female-driven heist flick.

The surprises listed in the rumored cast comes courtesy of music stars, Awkwafina and Rihanna.

Awkwafina, the most unknown name on the marquee, is a Korean-American rapper who grabbed attention in Neighbors 2.

Singer Rihanna has been making waves in the acting pool for sometime now. She previously starred in Battleship and This Is the End. More recently, it was revealed that she will tackle on the ill-fated role of Marion Crane in FX's final season of Bates Motel. She will also star alongside Cara Delevingne and Ethan Hawke in Luc Besson's sci-fi spectacle, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Hathaway's entrance to Ocean's 8 will bring the production's Oscar winner count to three with Bullock and Blanchett.

Gary Ross will direct the spinoff which is said to start filming in October. He also penned the script alongside Olivia Milch. Ocean 11's Steven Soderbergh will produce.
