Shailene Woodley pleads not guilty to charges from Dakota Access Pipeline protest

Shailene Woodley has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges which she was arrested for while protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline in Bismarck, North Dakota, 10 days ago.

Us Weekly noted that the Snowden star entered a plea of not guilty to the counts through her attorney, Alexander Reichert, on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Woodley was charged with one count of criminal trespass and one count of engaging in a riot during the protest.

The actress shared the moment she was arrested on Facebook Live and told those watching that she "was walking back to my RV, which is right there so that we can go back to camp peacefully and they [law enforcement officials] grabbed me by my jacket and said that I was not allowed to continue."

After her arrest her rep released a statement saying, "[Shailene] appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline."

The oil pipeline will span more than 1,000 miles across both North and South Dakota and into the Missouri River, after a federal judge rejected the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's request to stop construction.
