Ellen Degeneres receives Presidential Medal of Freedom and does White House mannequin challenge

Ellen Degeneres, 58, forgot her ID while going to the White House in Washington, D.C, in order to receive her Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday, Nov 22.

Without it, Degeneres couldn't be allowed entry since she was technically unidentified. The TV host posted on her twitter:

This worked itself out somehow, since about an hour later, Degeneres announced her entry into the White House with a mannequin challenge. The mannequin challenge included celebrities Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro and Diana Ross. The stars held still in different poses in order to fulfill the challenges purpose.

Degeneres received the Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. According to US Weekly, several other celebrities were at the White House with Degeneres, including her challenge cohorts, and others such as athlete Michael Jordan, Vin Scully and Robert Redford.

President Barack Obama, 55, recently released a statement about the honorees.

"The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our nation's highest civilian honor — it's a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better."

The current President continued to say, "From scientists, philanthropists and public servants to activists, athletes, and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way."

This ceremony is one of the final acts of his presidency before President-elect Donald Trump takes over the Oval Office in January.
