’16 and Pregnant’ star Valerie Fairman found dead

One of the stars of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant has died.

TMZ reported that Valerie Fairman, 23, who was featured on the show’s second season, was at a friend’s house near her home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania when she locked herself in a bathroom. Once her friend was able to get inside the bathroom Fairman was unresponsive.

It is believed that she died from a drug overdose. However, the Chester County Coroner is still conducting toxicology tests which will determine if that is the case.

Fairman has struggled with substance abuse in the past and was arrested several times.

An MTV spokesperson released a statement following the news of her death which read, “We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”

Valerie leaves behind her 7-year-old daughter Nevaeh Lynn, who she gave birth to on the show.
