BookCase.Club Teenage Dreams December subscription unboxing review

BookCase.Club is an inexpensive subscription service that mails two books in your choice of genre each month directly to your door. They are a no frills service for those who want to read without paying for extra goodies. You can choose from several options including thrillers, sci-fi/fantasy, kids’ picture books and romance. They’ve even started two quarterly subscriptions for cookbooks and military history reads. I tried out the BookCase.Club Teenage Dreams case this month which is their YA subscription. Here’s what was inside.

The shipment was sent in their updated logoed box. Its blue and white design really stands out from other packages you might receive and it got the books here in good shape.

Inside the box were this month’s books and a BookCase.Club bookmark. The choices for December were Diamond Boy by Michael Williams and A Matter of Heart by Amy Fellner Dominy. I’d never heard of either of these novels before.

Diamond Boy is about blood diamond mining in Africa. Not my usual type of novel, but I’ll give it a try. Sometimes it’s good to step outside of your comfort zone. A Matter of Heart follows a girl whose Olympic dreams are dashed by a serious heart condition. She has to discover her personal identity without the activity which defined her entire life. I like the occasional contemporary YA novel and this one sounds like it will be an emotional read.

BookCase.Club maintains its low prices (only $9.99 per month!) by sending out discount books. Therefore, you’re not always going to get novels that you’ve heard of. If you don’t mind the surprise and like reading a wide variety of books within your chosen genre, this could be an economical way to add books to your home library. If you prefer more popular literature or subscriptions with bonus items such as jewelry or tea, this is not the way to go.
