Alanis Morissette’s former manager admits to stealing millions from her

Alanis Morissette's former manager has admitted to stealing nearly $5 million from the singer and she's not the only famous client he stole from.

CBS News noted that on Wednesday, Jan. 18, Jonathan Todd Schwartz, 48, agreed to enter a guilty plea to the federal charges of wire fraud and filing a false tax return for failing to report embezzled funds.

Prosecutors said that Schwartz took $4.8 million from Morissette's account between 2010 and 2014 labeling it as “sundry/personal expenses” without her authorization. When he was eventually questioned about the funds, he lied saying he used it to invest in illegal marijuana “grow” businesses.

The former GSO Business Management employee also admitted to stealing another $1.7 million from his other celebrity clients, totaling $6.5 million. The names of those clients though have not yet been released.

If Schwartz is convicted he faces up to 23 years behind bars.

Morissette has not publicly responded to the news as she is busy being a mother to her two young children including her infant daughter Onyx Solace who was born in June.
