Josh Groban deletes mean tweet about Mariah Carey's NYE performance

After apparent technical difficulties led to a disastrous performance from Mariah Carey Saturday night on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrestmany Twitter users reacted to the debacle via social media. One of those who joined in the Twitter-bashing of Mimi before they knew the facts was Josh Groban.

The 35-year-old Groban took to Twitter following Carey's hard-to-watch performance to slam it as well.

“Any time one of the greatest voices of my generation lip syncs, an angel loses its wings,” he tweeted.

However, Groban felt the wrath of the Twitterverse as many called him out for being mean-spirited and "hateful." He then realized that he shouldn't have been so quick to tweet and ended up deleting his comment.

He offered this explanation as to why he chose to take the tweet down: “Deleted my tweet about a certain performance because it was made in humor but taken way more meanly than intended. Not out to diss artists.”

Carey didn't respond to Groban's tweet, but did take to Twitter herself after the live performance seen by millions.

As we reported, Mariah's reps have sent a written complaint to Dick Clark Productions alleging that they sabotaged her and were told about the audio problems prior to her taking the stage, but did not correct them.

DCP denied those claims.
