Taraji P. Henson delivers inspirational SAG Awards speech

Taraji P. Henson gave one of the most inspiring speeches of the night after "Hidden Figures" was announced as the winner of the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by Cast in a Motion Picture.

As the Huffington Post noted, the star-studded film has received much praise and is already an Oscar nominee for Best Picture. The story is set in 1961 and  surrounds three black women by the names of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson - who played a huge role in NASA's prosperous attempt that put astronaut John Glen into space.

Henson stood alongside her fellow cast members, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae while she delivered her electrifying speech about the movie's purpose.

"This film is about unity, the shoulders of the women that we stand on are three American heroes: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. Without them, we would not know how to reach the stars. These women did not complain about the problems, the circumstances, the issues,” Henson said. “They focused on solutions. Therefore, these brave women helped put men into space.”

Her last words ended with unity, which is definitely the kind of hope we American citizens may need after the division that has fell upon us recently.

“This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside, and we come together as a human race. We win. Love wins every time ...They are hidden figures no more," she concluded.
