Best and worst moments in the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ remake
1. Not enough essential new material
The film did do a few things that were original. For instance, every time a petal from the rose fell, a section of the castle fell apart. It was an exaggerated metaphor for the Beast losing his humanity, but it worked. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much else that was new and essential to the story line. With the tale of Beauty and the Beast having variations across cultures for hundreds of years, one would think that there would be plenty to pull from. Instead, this was almost exactly like the animated movie which made it feel mostly repetitive.
